Dr. Rachel Thompson obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The Catholic University of America in 2011 and has been a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland since 2012. Since then, she has worked as a staff psychologist in a residential trauma recovery program, in a VA Outpatient Clinic, and in private practice. She has a passion for providing evidence-based treatments for trauma and stressor-related disorders, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders. She has completed advanced training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions for anxiety and depression. She has also supervised psychology trainees in the delivery of these treatments.
Dr. Thompson integrates a cognitive-behavioral approach to treatment with a warm, empathetic therapy style. She recognizes how difficult it can be to ask for help, and is committed to providing a nonjudgmental, supportive environment where clients can safely confront challenging emotions and experiences. Dr. Thompson possesses the Authority to Practice Interjursidictional Telepsychology (APIT) by the PSYPACT commission (E.Passport #9130) and currently provides online therapy to clients in participating states. |
